Erasmus Mundus programme kicks off at AIT

       The prestigious Erasmus Mundus programme was kicked off at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Interested students are encouraged to submit applications from now until October 15.
       A total of 48 students and staff from Thailand and Indonesia will be granted Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
       The scholarship covers the return ticket from the home institution to the host institution, insurance during stay at the host institution, tuition, living expenses and housing.
       Under the EuroAsia scholarship programme, students, researchers and academic staff from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos,Thailand and Vietnam have the opportunities to study, conduct research or teach in Europe for up to 20 months.
       Europeans have the same opportunities to study in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos,Thailand and Vietnam.
       A total of 221 individuals from Europe and Asia will be provided with the chance of broadening their perspectives by studying,teaching or researching in another part of the world. The 48 scholarships comprise eight undergraduate,15 masters,15 PhD and 10 postdoctoral positions under the scholarship scheme.
       Students with a minimum of one year of previous university studies and who are currently enrolled in one of the 11 partner universities and are a national of either Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam or an EU-27 nation are eligible to apply. Likewise, academic staff who are employed by one of the said universities are eligible to apply.
       Also eligible are 12 nationals from Burma,Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Thailand and Vietnam who are in "particularly vulnerable" situations, according to the programme.
